  • The right time and place to plant a grapevine

The right time:

plant the grapes in early spring or late winter, and prune the vine at the same time each year.

Building the Trellis:

A trellis should be built before planting because it will act as a support for the branches of the grapevine to grow on, but if there is a fence, it can grow on it.

Soil:

The soil should be deep, well drained, and have a pH above 7 degrees.

Sunlight:

It is essential to choose a place where the sun shines directly.

  • Steps to grow a grape tree in the home garden

Grapes can be grown in the home garden by following these steps:

  1. Choose the grape tree from which the person wishes to plant a portion of the branches.
  2. Before planting, the roots should be soaked in water for two or three hours.
  3. Dig a hole 30 centimeters deep and 30 centimeters wide, and then fill it with soil to a depth of 10 centimeters.
  4. Cut the damaged roots and then plant them in the soil.
  5. Cover the roots with soil to a depth of 15 centimeters and stack them down.
  6. Put more soil down without compacting it.
  7. The grape tree must not be irrigated excessively, and if the area is exposed to heavy rains, a drip system must be equipped to adjust the amount of water that reaches the grape tree.

  • Grapevine care

To take care of the grape tree, some steps must be followed, the most important of which are:

  1. Sawdust should be placed around the plant because this will regulate soil temperature, retain water, and reduce weed growth.
  2. Weeds must be manually removed every once in a while.
  3. Every year, at the beginning of spring, the grapes must be fertilized by applying a nitrogen fertilizer, but if the vines appear healthy, this fertilizer is not needed.
